Born in Lancashire
in 1944, i became interested in drawing and painting when i was
just a girl.
At Newcastle College in the 1990’s as a mature student an incident
ignited the desire to start painting in earnest.
An illustrated book about the artist John Piper fell off a shelf
and his approach to painting struck a chord. Although the paintings
I produce are distinctively my own I admit that his belief in capturing
the physical reality of a place but also its spirit which has determined
the approach to everything I paint.
I graduated from Sunderland University in 1997with a B.A. Fine
Art Hons Degree and I have exhibited at a range of venues across
the Northern region. I was Artist in Residence at Hexham Abbey in
2005 and as a member of Artists Network in Northumberland I have
from time to time taken part in the Art Tour, now in its 14th year.
